Office of Diversity and Inclusion

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) is charged with advancing UTMB as the educator, employer and provider of choice by promoting an inclusive environment that actively values diversity among students, faculty, staff, patients and the broader community.

Established in 2012, ODI's mission is to integrate inclusion and excellence into the core aspects of the university's work through thought leadership, consulting and service delivery. To that end, ODI has developed an overarching strategy to accomplish UTMB's commitment to diversity.

Diversity Council

The Diversity Council represents the cornerstone of the diversity and inclusion process. The council is a chartered committee responsible for leading and supporting programs and practices that reinforce the nine goals outlined in the Diversity and Inclusion strategic plan. Its mission is to work together to harness the broad spectrum of ideas, experiences and voices that characterize the UTMB community.

Strategic Diversity and Compliance Toolkit

The Strategic Diversity and Compliance Toolkit is a unique resource designed to equip managers, recruiters and faculty leaders with resources and decision support tools to build diversity and inclusion objectives into recruitment and talent pipeline development plans. By consolidating a comprehensive suite of information and resources into one site, the toolkit provides guidance and support in an easy-to-use web-based format.

Veterans Resource Group

The Veterans Resource Group (VetsRG) mission is to promote an inclusive university environment for military veterans and their allies through transition support, education, career enrichment and outreach.

The VetsRG is open to all employees and students, regardless of veteran status. Its vision is that by the year 2017, UTMB will be recognized as a military-friendly university environment that fully acknowledges and supports the talents and experiences of all students and employee veterans and their allies.
