JOB SUMMARY:
The CMC Communications
Consultant will create, implement and oversee communication programs that
effectively describe and promote UTMB CMC. This role is responsible for
developing, maintaining, improving and implementing communication plans,
advising /making recommendations to leadership, trouble-shooting as issues
arise, and overseeing multiple forms of communication.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Consults with CMC
leadership to determine district and service line communication needs;
develops and implements comprehensive communication plans, strategies and
tools including but not limited to intranet pages, written publications,
mass emails, meetings, training sessions and video-teleconferences.
- Consults with CMC
district and service line leadership, identifies communication needs,
recommends strategies/options and develops associated tools, e.g.,
brochures, draft emails and letters, calendars and scheduling tools, project
management plans, committee updates, educational materials, etc.)
- Summarizes CMC
yearly activities and trends and publishes them in an annual report
available to employees and the community.
- Advises CMC
Leadership on communication objectives and content, as well as methods of
and timing for communication.
- Advises leadership on
what should be communicated during emergency situations and ensures the
dissemination of just-in-time communication to affected parties.
- Develops a budget to
carry out yearly communications and identifies employees and entities to act
as potential partners.
- Participates in
creating and carrying out the agenda for the annual CMC conference regarding
communications and education needs.
- Working
collaboratively with staff throughout CMC, develops, improves and
continually manages and maintains content for UTMB CMC intranet web pages to
include current news, announcements, calendars and event information,
employee and program accomplishments and other information as identified.
- Communicates with OUA
and Legal to assure content and formats are in compliance with UTMB branding
guidelines and UTMB policies and procedures.
- Partners with OUA and
UTMB leadership to increase the number of institutional communication and
marketing pages and tools aimed at both internal and external audiences.
- Develops and
maintains a broad-based and dynamic network of media contacts and outlets to
maximize coverage of CMC patient care and community centered news events and
as a basis for connecting with untapped community resources.
- Professionally
represents CMC at UTMB and community meetings, forums, planning events,
conferences, etc., to receive and exchange fresh information.
- This role directly
contributes to the success of Correctional Managed Care.
- Identifies
appropriate internal and external controls for the department; provides
mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance.

structure.

Performs related duties as required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in
communications, web design, public relations or related field and four (4) years
experience working in the communications field.
EQUIPMENT:
Standard office equipment.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/LOCATION OF POSITION:
Standard office
environment. Travel to various correctional facilities required.

Specific job requirements or physical location

Texas Education Code.
