JOB SUMMARY:

Assist finance leadership in all aspects of managing employee benefits, new employee initialization, employee records, the Office of International Affairs.  Act as primary contact with U.T. System Employee Group Insurance and Human Resources offices.  Implement/maintain systems/procedures to ensure compliance, maintain collaborative relationships with finance and human resource functions, maintain a customer-focused environment and responsible for on-going performance management and staff development activities.

MAJOR DUTIES / CRITICAL TASKS:

  • Analyzes business operations and identifies improvements.

  • Monitors and measures the trends in areas of responsibility.

  • Manages and coordinates departmental budget process.

  • Provides support to institutional committees.

  • Coach mentor managers and staff including analyzing workload, determining work priority, assigning duties and overseeing work progress and staff develop.

  • Supports/manages other institutional duties and projects as assigned by finance Leadership.

  • Represent UTMB at UT System meetings, etc.  UTMB’s benefits contact.

  • Ensure benefits staff is structured and trained to deliver service lines.

  • Determine performance measures and coach staff around achieving goals.

  • Intervene, when necessary, to handle customer concerns.

  • Keep Finance Leadership apprised of changes in benefits plans, etc.

  • Manage benefits budget.

  • Proactively plan for major projects, i.e. annual enrollment, etc.

  • Identifies appropriate internal controls for department; provides mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance.

  • Performs related duties as required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of related experience.
