JOB SUMMARY:
Markets goods and services to organizations that can direct patients to UTMB and
negotiates contracts for such goods and services. The scope is to impact
patient census.
MAJOR DUTIES / CRITICAL TASKS:

UTMB Agent for county indigent health care
contracts including billing/collections, registration/financial screening of
patients, contractual relationships, and resolving questions/concerns.

Serves as the clearinghouse for all
information leaving the university in route to counties/hospital districts or
their constituents being served under a contractual relationship between the
county and UTMB.

Presents County Contract
Programs to various organizations.

Negotiates contracts with organizations that
can direct patients to UTMB.

Prepares proposals and conducts follow-up
contacts. Performs contract analyses and submits recommendations for
amendments, terminations, changes, etc.

Negotiates and finalizes contract language
revisions and financial provisions through telephone conversation and personal
meetings with representatives of organizations.

Conducts sales related functions and assists
in developing and maintaining long term relationships with organizations in
order to establish referral patterns to UTMB.

Screens potential clients.

Coordinates and provides county contract
education.

Submits strategic recommendations to enhance
referrals in a managed care environment.

Marginal or periodic functions: Assists the
Executive Director with projects as assigned.

Adheres to internal controls as established by
department.

Performs related duties as required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare, or related field, and five years of
management or administrative experience in a managed care organization, academic
healthcare provider or public sector. Knowledgeable and demonstrated experience
with physician and hospital billing systems.
