JOB SUMMARY: Provides entry level desktop, server, network, and conferencing (hardware and software) technical support, to maintain existing UTMB computer systems, to include off-Island locations, with extensive day trip travel and possible overnight travel with appropriate approval. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: · Maintains desktop computer software applications and operating systems. · Assists staff in functionality of current software applications and hardware tools. · Provides general assistance in analyzing, administering, and maintaining the performance of local and wide area networks. · Supports and deploys system images via departmental standards. · Installs necessary cabling as necessary for network, telephone, and video connections. · Provides reports on desktop, server, networking, and/or conferencing to upper level technicians and management as required. · Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure. MARGINAL OR PERIODIC JOB FUNCTIONS: · Performs related duties as required. REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: Associate's degree or equivalent in related field. OTHER: Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification, may render this position security sensitive, and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215, Texas Education Code. State Security clearance is required, and Federal Security clearance may be required as well.
