JOB SUMMARY:

Manages and coordinates UTMB off-Island infrastructure installation, maintenance and support including daily operations involving technical support of all desktop, server, network, and conferencing systems.  Provides leadership and advancements in the creation of additional systems solutions which bring value to clients.  Approximately up to 50% day trip travel and possible overnight travel with appropriate approval.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

·        Manages the day to day operations of the entire field support staff.

·        Manages the provision of complex analysis, administration, and maintenance of local and wide area networks and create direction and network management strategies.

·        Manages and provides the direction for the maintenance all necessary desktop computer software applications and operating systems and creates the path forward and strategy of all desktop maintenance solutions and/or methodologies.

·        Administers performance reviews and provides promotion and salary recommendations for all field support staff and supervisors.

·        Works closely with staff to grow them in their positions and to enable their success moving forward.

·        Works closely with UTMB Information Services on the main campus to maintain compatibility and standards where applicable.

·        Works with management to integrate all off island application, infrastructure and process systems.

·        Establishes and manages departmental standards and documentation.

·        Provides direction for system image deployment.

·        Creates and manages departmental processes and process documents.

·        Mentors and trains new staff on existing processes and methodologies.

·        Evaluates new hardware and software for standard operations.

·        Instructs project team leads on both internal and external projects assuring the completion of projects.

·        Designs complex networking environments including necessary topology and protocols.

·        Pioneers complex processes around new and applicable technologies which benefits UTMB as a whole.

·        Attends sales presentations and technical accompaniment as required.

·        Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in related field and five years related experience.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/LOCATION OF POSITION:

In State and some Federal prisons, as well as other off-Island clinics, clients, and customers both local and remote.

OTHER:

Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification, may render this position security sensitive, and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215, Texas Education Code.

State Security clearance is required, and Federal Security clearance may be required as well.
