JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for activities relating to planning and directing patient evacuation operations, acting as a liaison with medical transportation activities, operating the Patient Evacuation Command Center (PECC), and otherwise coordinating patient movements. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Facilitates activities with TDCJ hospital in Galveston relative to inmate patient movement and staging facility bed utilization.
· Facilitates activities with community hospitals throughout the state relative to occurrences of inmate patient care at such facilities.
· Coordinates health services programs relative to the activities of the patient evacuation system.· Develops financial plans and budget estimates for the Patient Evacuation Command Center.· Directs the preparation of biometric reports, directives, correspondence,· Maintains daily productivity reports.
MARGINAL OR PERIODIC JOB FUNCTIONS:
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: Bachelors Degree in Health Care Administration, Business Administration or other related field and three (3) years supervisory experience. EQUIPMENT: Standard office equipment. Uses computer-aided dispatch, vehicle, and inmate patient tracking system to include multi-line telephone systems, Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) telecommunications system, multi-channel radio console with headsets and telephone handsets, video display terminals, and computer keyboards. Resource materials include hardware and software documentation, patient movement coordinator training manual, call-out schedules, maps, inmate classifications, level of transportation decision criteria, policies, regulations, operating procedures and administrative directives. WORKING ENVIRONMENT/LOCATION OF POSITION: Standard hospital, clinical, laboratory and/or office environments. Requires extensive travel to meet with customers and entering prison facilities. May be exposed to such occupational hazards such as communicable diseases, harmful chemicals, and/or disoriented or combative patients. OTHER: Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification, may render this position security sensitive, and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215, Texas Education Code.
