JOB SUMMARY:
To serve as a liaison for the Surgery Chairman,
department faculty, staff and outside individuals, while maintaining a high
standard of professionalism and confidentiality, and ensuring that the
departmental office daily operations are run in an efficient and effective
manner.
MAJOR DUTIES / CRITICAL TASKS:

Manages and maintains complicated calendar,
schedules appointments, screens mail and telephone calls; initiates response
to mail and phone calls; composes correspondence as requested by Chairman for
his signature.

Ensures smooth day-to-day operations of
department office; serves as counsel and information source for other
employees; responsible for highly confidential activities.

Delegates itineraries for numerous visiting
professors and faculty recruits; arranges special events associated with these
events.

Coordinates and completes travel and meeting
arrangements for Chairman; works closely with American College of Surgeons for
Chairman’s role as Chairman of the Board of Governors of the College.

Coordinates activities of Chairman for his
role of UTMB Committees and as an officer for Southern Surgical Association
Singleton Surgical Society.

Identifies appropriate internal controls for
department; provides mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance.

Performs related duties as required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related
field and fours years related experience.
