Job Summary:
Develop and implement marketing and promotional activities that advance UTMB initiatives and goals; initiate networking opportunities that introduce university health services; and identify and participate in planning of events that support university partnerships with communities and businesses.
Major Duties / Critical Tasks:

Consult with community outreach directors in developing a marketing plan for university programs.

Conduct research on target audience, benchmark within the healthcare industry, and access data which may be available through other sources.

Initiate calls to external prospective customers to introduce university health service lines.

Network with agencies and organizations to publicize the opportunities for mutually beneficial relationships between the institution and community.

Solicit the active involvement of faculty, deans and staff as well as volunteers in a mutual effort at optimum representation of the institution’s credentials and service.

Review past and current contractual agreements to evaluate potential successes. Consult with University Advancement for recommendations.

Compile budgets showing expenditures for media advertising, publications and graphic materials, registration fees, and other purchasing costs required to accomplish marketing goals. Liaison with other departments on jointly-funded projects. Utilize university services as appropriate.

Contact vendors for bids; handle contract negotiations; monitor and approve invoices; and maintain financial reporting.

Adheres to internal controls established for department.

Handle other duties as assigned.
Required Education / Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related field and two years related experience in business or marketing.
