JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of continuing
medical education programs and materials in collaboration with faculty and
administrators from the medical school and outside the university.
MAJOR DUTIES / CRITICAL TASKS:

Oversees CME staff and assigns programs.

Interfaces with the leadership team regarding
fiscal, human resources, and programmatic issues related to efficient office
operations.

Collaborate with faculty and administrators on
the conception and design of continuing medical education projects with
emphasis on needs assessment, instructional modalities, logistical planning,
and meeting accreditation guidelines.

Coordinates the educational planning of CME
projects, with emphasis on topic selection, speaker contacts, program formats,
instructional materials, and evaluation procedures.

Oversees the logistical aspects of CME
projects, with emphasis on budgeting, marketing and promotion, accommodations
(i.e. food, travel arrangements, etc.), technical support, and soliciting
commercial grants.

Monitors the presentation of CME projects,
through on-site conference management and oversight. Pro-actively seeks and
promotes opportunities for CME projects and the application of CME resources.

Understands and applies the CME guidelines and
standards.

Develops partnerships with organizations and
companies involved in CME including pharmaceutical companies and other
commercial supporters, related product and service vendors.

Educates the community and others about the
value and purpose of CME and promotes the resources of the Office of
Continuing Education.

Utilizes new information technology to develop
and support CME programs.

Performs CME related research (i.e. needs,
assessment, outcomes, studies, etc.).

Adheres to internal controls established for
department.

Performs related duties as required
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in related field and two years related
experience.
EQUIPMENT:
Standard office equipment.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Standard office environment. Willingness to travel throughout the
Galveston / Houston area as well
as to other cities in Texas and outside the state.

Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to
