JOB SUMMARY:
Plans, implements, and evaluates the Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) program
for UTMB outpatient clinic patients. Manages Nutritionists, provides technical
assistance and consultation. Interprets and complies with regulatory policies
in accordance with healthcare guidelines.
MAJOR DUTIES / CRITICAL TASKS:

Plans, administers, and evaluates the WIC
Program to stay within budget; develops and directs implementation of WIC
objectives and guidelines.

Manages nutrition staff including interviews,
hires, supervising performance, and giving technical advice on high risk
patients.

Directs quality assurance activities to
include training staff to conduct annual self-audit activities.

Coordinates with the health care team to
provide WIC services in support of the patient’s health needs.

Conducts needs assessments for future
additional WIC sites as needed for Regional Maternal & Child Health Program.

Interprets and ensures compliance with federal
regulations and state policies; issues responses and reports to the WIC State
Agency and maintains regular communications.

Develops local agency Nutrition Education
Plan, Training Plan, Outreach Plan, and Breastfeeding Plan.

Participates in Continuous Process Improvement
teams to develop improved methods of WIC and health care delivery services.

Reviews the evaluation of grocery stores for
approval to be WIC vendors; monitors and provides technical assistance to
approved WIC vendors.

Adheres to internal controls for department.

Performs related duties as required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor degree in related field and three years related experience
Prefer experience as WIC nutritionist and supervisory experience; certification
as Registered Dietician (RD) may be a plus.
EQUIPMENT:
Instruments and equipment associated with nutritional care; standard office
equipment
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Outpatient clinical environments. May be exposed to such occupational hazards
such as communicable diseases.
