JOB SUMMARY:
To assist in planning, developing, and coordinating the activities associated
with maintaining the operation of the Center for Technology Development
MAJOR DUTIES / CRITICAL TASKS:

Coordinates the evaluation of market potential
and commercialization of faculty invention disclosures

Provides oversight to the management of a
portfolio of intellectual properties.

Coordinates all patent activities including
legal requirements and financial and status reporting.

Develops and implements marketing strategies
for inventions, technologies, copyrights and tangibles.

Promotes UTMB’s Center for Technology
Development through industry media communications, trade shows, and other
public forums.

Coordinates the activities associated with
UTMB biomedical startup companies including locating commercial partners,
venture capital visits, and administration of the startup company seed fund.

Provides oversight for the negotiation of
Confidential Disclosure Agreements, Material Transfer Agreements, Options,
Sponsored Research Agreements and License Agreements.

Monitors agreements for compliance.

Ensures compliance with federal reporting
requirements.

Develops and implements licensing and
marketing strategies.

Coordinates all technology management
activities with other UTMB departments such as OUA and Legal, while working
under supervision of the Director of the Center for Technology Development.

Adheres to university policies and internal
controls established for the department.

Handles special projects as required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Masters Degree in Science or equivalent in related field and three years of
related experience in the area of biomedical research technology, business
planning or marketing scientific technologies.
EQUIPMENT:
Standard office equipment.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Standard office environment, some travel required.
