JOB SUMMARY:
To provide academic, career, and psychological
support services through individual and group counseling and workshops.
MAJOR
DUTIES / CRITICAL TASKS:
Work
School
- Provides program
information to potential participants, current participants and department
heads/supervisors.
- Interviews, assesses
and advises potential participants.
- Responsible for
determining eligibility of employees for work school support by reviewing
application, transcripts and interviews.
- Provides individual and
group counseling for participants experiencing academic, personal or job
related problems.
- Provides advisement of
current participants and maintains biweekly contacts.
- Develops and
facilitates content specific workshops on topics such as test taking, study
skills, time management, stress management, self esteem, including those in
remote areas, i.e. CMC sites.
- Develops and
facilitates proactive workshops addressing personal, academic and job related
problems commonly experienced by participants.
- Assists in the
development of and facilitates a review program to prepare participants for
board exams.
- Participates in the
development and revision of administrative policies.
- Responsible for
database on Work School
participants and graduates and provides statistical data each semester.
- Provides and/or
identifies appropriate resource persons to provide support
services/remediation for participants as requested.
- Responsible for
following up on inactive participants.
- Conducts exit
interviews on participants who exit during educational program or graduates
who leave prior to fulfilling post graduation commitment.
- Assumes responsibility
for remaining current of programs at area colleges and universities.
- Develops and produces
brochures and presentations.
- Develops and maintains
web page.
Career Boutique
- Maintains databases,
correspondence.
- Writes grant requests.
- Develops and produces
brochures/presentations and fundraising materials.
First
Step GED Program
- Assists instructor when
necessary.
- Interviews and assesses
potential participants.
- Provides counseling for
participants.
- Assists participants
with job placement/career advancement.
- Orders materials and
maintains budget.
Project LINC and other Workforce Development Projects
- Serves as educational
consultant.
- Provides
workshops/seminars/presentations as required.
- Assists in
preparations, provides materials and participates in site visits, conferences,
conventions.
- Develops and maintains
database of participants and graduates.
- Collects data and
assists in preparation of grant reports.
- Designs and produces
presentation materials, charts, pamphlets, brochures.

Identifies appropriate internal controls for
department; provides mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance.

Performs related duties as required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Masters degree in
Counseling or Psychology and three years experience in academic counseling.
EQUIPMENT:
Office equipment including
computer software/Microsoft Office
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Standard business office environment. Some
travel required
