JOB SUMMARY:
The Program Manager is accountable for the personnel, operational and financial
management of assigned program(s) to ensure the delivery of competent,
compassionate and efficient clinical care, promotion of research and clinical
education of students.
MAJOR DUTIES / CRITICAL TASKS:

Assumes a manager role in implementation of
the strategic plan set forth by Administrative Director;
-
Provides input on budget issues and tracks
operational expenditures and resources, as requested by Administrative
Director of the program(s) to ensure high quality, cost effective
service/outcomes, and a safe and efficient work environment;
-
Provides leadership for the program(s) and
promotes teamwork;
-
Serves as liaison between Administrative
Director and departmental programs;
-
Participates in the financial management of
the program(s) consistent with state and federal labor laws, and
Rehabilitation Services and hospital philosophy, goals and policy
-
Promotes and practices patient/family advocacy
and facilitates the maintenance of ethical practice;
-
Demonstrates a high level of productivity and
dependability;
-
Actively promotes the professional development
and clinical education of self and others;
-
Identifies appropriate internal controls for
department; evaluates and implements mechanisms to monitor and enforce
compliance per Administrative Director’s directive;
-
Defines clinical personnel requirements and
position competencies for practice in conjunction with the Administrative
Director of Rehabilitation Services;
-
Continuously monitors staffing levels and
adjusts as appropriate to meet various clinical care and financial objectives;
-
Participates in clinical, departmental and
hospital-wide programs affecting the delivery of care;
-
Services as a resource and role model for
staff and students;
-
Leads/participates, as appropriate, in
collaborative interdepartmental approaches to developing and enhancing an
integrated system of care as assigned;
-
Participates in and facilitates research and
evidence-based practice endeavors for the departments as they relate to
quality patient care and “state of the art” clinical practice;
-
Promotes student programming and involvement
throughout the department;
-
Accepts responsibility for personal
professional development and demonstrates the desire for personal growth;
-
Performs related duties as required
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in physical or occupational therapy and current licensure or
eligible for Texas physical or occupational therapy license. The equivalent of
five years PT or OT experience, including two years of progressive management
experience.
EQUIPMENT:
Standard patient care supplies, equipment and mechanical devices. Standard
office and computer equipment equipped with Microsoft Office and statistical
programs and required.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
-
Work environment is located in a comfortable
indoor area;
-
Conditions
such as noise, odors, cramped workspace and/or fumes could sometimes cause
discomfort;
-
Moderate
to extreme physical effort such as walking, standing, performing CPR, and
lifting materials, equipment, objects and /or patients may be required;
-
Vision, hearing, talking and sense of touch
abilities must be adequate to enable one to quickly and accurately perform
tasks such as reading small print, reading from monitoring equipment, defining
details, sending and receiving clear and accurate oral communication;
-
Frequent
periods of concentrated or focused attention will be needed to interpret
visual, auditory and sensory inputs;
-
Alert
and careful attention to detail will be required to avoid injury;
-
Minimal
exposure to such occupational hazards as communicable diseases, radiation,
chemotherapeutic agents and disoriented or combative patients;
-
May
work extended shifts as necessary to complete job objectives;
-
May
be required to be on standby and work extended shifts in situations deemed
necessary by the Administrative Director, including weekends;
-
Able
to work under stress and be emotionally capable of coping with complex and/or
changing activities
OTHER:
Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to
this classification, may render this position security sensitive, and thereby
subject to the provisions of Section 51.215, Texas Education Code.
