JOB SUMMARY: The Rehabilitation Teacher works under the direct supervision of the Coordinator, Physically Handicapped Offenders Program (PHOP). As a member of the PHOP team, the Rehabilitation Teacher supports the achievement of completion of activities of daily living of blind or blind multi-disabled offenders assigned to the progrm. MAJOR DUTIES / CRITICAL TASKS:
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with at least one year of work experience in rehabilitation teaching, rehabilitation, or education of persons with disabilities; or two years of work experience in general education or other related field. The degree must be in the field of rehabilitation, education, psychology, sociology, or other related field. EQUIPMENT: Standard clinical correctional facility equipment. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Standard hospital, clinical and/or office environment within a correctional managed care facility. OTHER: Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification, may render this position security sensitive, and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215, Texas Education Code.
