JOB SUMMARY:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: · Participates in the development of a strategic plan and operational guidelines for the Department. · Assists in the development of the budget for the Rehabilitation Program and participates in the fiscal management of the unit. · Participates with CMC Medical Executive Committee as requested and contributes towards the overall development of rehabilitation programs. · Establishes standards of practice for various activities and the evaluation of work performance of Rehabilitation Services staff in accordance with UTMB Performance Appraisal System. · Participates in plans for updating of appropriate departmental policies and procedures. · Monitors compliance with accrediting and certifying agencies: JCAHO, CARF, and DRG exemptions. · Analyze and make projections regarding financial data. · Provides direct patient care services in area of certified specialty. · Identifies appropriate internal controls for department; provides mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance. MARGINAL OR PERIODIC FUNCTIONS:
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years progressive management experience. Certified Occupational Therapist or Certified Physical Therapist, or Certified in Orientation and Mobility, or Certified Speech Therapist. EQUIPMENT: Standard patient care equipment, related supplies, and mechanical devices. Standard office equipment. WORKING ENVIRONMENT/LOCATION OF POSITION: May be required to work in correctional setting. OTHER: Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification, may render this position security sensitive, and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215, Texas Education Code.
