JOB SUMMARY: Provides interpreting services to correctional clients receiving services through The Assistive Disability Program. The Program Manager for Assistive Disability Services (ADS) provides administrative supervision for this position MAJOR DUTIES / CRITICAL TASKS: · Contributes to the overall success of the UTMB Managed Care Organization. · Provides ASL interpreter services for offenders involved in major and minor disciplinary investigations; classification interviews; medical and dental appointments; psychological and sociological interviews; job assignment interviews; parole interviews and access to court inquiries. · Provides interpreter services during post-admission screening. · Provides case management services. · Facilitates telephone conversations. · Coordinates contract interpreter services. · Performs as a program advocate and resource person for ADS clients. · Performs related duties as required by the Program manager. REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: High school diploma from an accredited school, or GED, with certification in American Sign Language (ASL) at level three, and three years experience in facilitating American Sign Language. EQUIPMENT: Standard office equipment. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Standard office, patient care, residential and school environments. May be required to work varying hours to accommodate Interpreter Services. OTHER: Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification, may render this position security sensitive, and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215, Texas Education Code.
