JOB SUMMARY:
The Simulator Technician will assist the
director of the patient simulation center in performing maintenance, repair,
administrative, development, teaching, and research duties.
MAJOR DUTIES / CRITICAL TASKS:

Participates in teaching-related activities
as follows: runs scenarios for students, clinical, medical and nursing staff,
and faculty, demonstrates and writes simulator instructions for users, and
teaches instructors on the use of the simulator.

Develops audiovisual methods and multimedia
programs with specific attention to editing of videotapes audio dubbing.

Repairs and trouble shoots malfunctions of
the simulator as required and/or directed by the manufacturer; enforcing
proper usage and operation by authorized personnel; follows specific
technical bulletins; reads operation and repair manuals; contacts appropriate
personnel; reports and documents repairs to director, enforcing proper usage
and operation by authorized personnel.

Performs administrative duties such as:
records and categorizes expenses and income, reports balance sheets to
supervisor, schedules and notifies users of lab availability, prepares
invoices for equipment and users, and order supplies.

Participates in patient simulator
development, assembling and filing articles on human patient simulation;
develops audiovisual methods and multimedia programs with specific attention
to editing of videotapes with audio dubbing; learns computer applications for
more efficient presentations, communicating and exchanging ideas with the
director.

Cooperates with most teaching related
activities, learning basic anesthetic techniques and sequences, running
anesthetic scenarios allied health students.

Supports the research mission of the
simulation lab, preparing equipment for research projects, and understanding
research protocols.

Identifies appropriate internal controls for
department; provides mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance.

Performs related duties as required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in a clinical discipline
and/or equivalent experience. Master’s preferred. Two (2) years experience
working in a clinical setting, experience working with anesthesia supplies,
equipment and procurement. Knowledge of various computer hardware,
software, and ability to troubleshoot problems. Knowledge of medical
terminology.
