JOB SUMMARY:

To provide leadership and direction for diagnostic radiology managers, senior technologists and staff technologists, while supporting and actualizing UTMB clinical initiatives.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Fosters and promotes a cohesive work environment among diagnostic radiology staff and between shifts.

  • Evaluates staff, provides coaching, monitors performance, directs orientation, and constructively influences staff morale.

  • Oversees and assigns staff workload requirements for daily operations of radiography day shift and supports off shift staff.

  • Controls inventory, care for and purchase of supplies for respective areas of responsibility.

  • Monitors the status of equipment repairs and preventative maintenance, gathers data on equipment malfunction and associated downtime, and documents its effects on patient care.

  • Maintains the ability to perform radiologic procedures to include assessment of patient needs.

  • Addresses and responds to concerns or grievances related to diagnostic radiology referred by physicians, staff and patients.

  • Assists in the development, interpretation, and implementation of departmental policies and procedures.

  • Identifies appropriate internal controls for department, and provides mechanisms to monitor and enforce compliance.  

  • Facilitates continuous quality improvement programs.

  • Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.

 

MARGINAL OR PERIODIC JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs related duties as required.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in radiologic sciences or allied health sciences or equivalent.  Five years of supervisory experience.  ARRT registered and TDH licensure. 

 

EQUIPMENT:

Standard office equipment.

 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/LOCATION OF POSITION:

Standard hospital, clinical, laboratory and/or office environments. May be exposed to such occupational hazards such as communicable diseases, harmful chemicals, and/or disoriented or combative patients. Describe travel requirements and other physical demands of job.

 

OTHER:

Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification, may render this position security sensitive, and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215, Texas Education Code.
