The purpose of the Commit to Quit (CTQ) Program is to provide tobacco use interventions to individuals based
on their readiness to change regarding their tobacco use. As behavior change does not happen in one step,
individuals tend to progress through different stages on their way to successful change. As such, the CTQ
program utilizes the Transtheoretical Model of Intentional Behavior Change (also known as the Stages of
Change Model). This model matches interventions based on identifiable stages through which individuals pass.
